looking forward to popping a bottle of champs and toasting the new year with my special someone.

it's that kinda day today

candlelit dinners and live music - that's what girl's night is made of

last night, ashley and i had a long overdue dinner date in santa monica.

dinner with the two of us usually involves overly analytical conversations about men,

the latest happenings at work and life, then more gossiping about men.
(no one ever said 'ladies night' was supposed to be intellectual!)

we ate at via veneto on main street (i've gotta remember to start taking pictures of my food!)
which was pretty romantic. what can i say...i treat my lady friends right! haha.
the food was great  - but what was even better was our server's super
thick italian accent. i think he said one of the first things he learned to say in english were:

"how old are you?"
and
"i'm not gay."

i told him in my opinon, that was a good choice for english first words.

after dinner ash and i headed to zanzibar to see adam's show.
we were a little late, so when we arrived he was already a few minutes into his set.
i'm not sure if i missed any of his new songs,
but he did cover some awesome funky-soulful tunes that i happily sang along to.

sunday-funday indeed.

baby, let's cruise

no idea why...but this has been stuck in my head all. day. long

not gonna lie...i think i have some pretty damn incredible and talented friends.

remember a few months ago i mentioned that i went to see my friend adam perform at the good hurt?

well...he's written a new song that i think is awesome - and i'm anxiously anticipating his next show when i can sing along to it live.

i've had a major girl crush on fiona apple since freshman year in high school -so much so that jessica and i got matching tattoos of a lyric from 'criminal'. 

now if i could just stop eating all my extra money and actually buy tickets to this concert, i would be one happy happy gal.

i'd really love to be frolicking in a meadow somewhere - sigh -

because the work week is my weekend

i made an appointment at the dmv for wednesday at noon, then promptly left the house just shortly after 12:15PM. i never said i was on time to anything but social events. 

the line at the dmv was so outrageous that it left me running to mommy

(literally. but just to say hello). the new driver's license will just have to wait until next week.

spent the rest of wednesday afternoon lounging at the beach in santa monica (finally! summer is in la) followed by burgers at umami, then speeding back to west hollywood for dinner at the thompson.

dinner before dinner? yes please.

lastly, fredo and i caught adam's show at the good hurt back on the westside - which in itself was entertaining, but even more so when fredo fell off my skateboard flat onto his ass.

(sorry fredo, is it too soon to laugh?)

thursday was spent poolside with gina - where i (re)learned that i do in fact sunburn, then happy hour and laughing so hard that i couldn't breathe.

spending so much time with my favorite people has this girl feeling like her heart just might explode from happiness.

 and ya know something?

 i wouldn't change that for the world.



#85 learn to play the ukulele

we're still perfecting harmony (and trying really hard to memorize the lyrics).

not gonna lie, maybe we practiced this about thirty-five other times while in palm springs.

but in the meantime, here were are in a park in sacra-mendi.

#85 learn to play the ukulele

when i was a little girl i was obsessed with this song.

although, back then it was the alvin & the chipmunks rendition - but i'm pretty sure i wore out that cassette tape during the course of one summer.

the last few days i've fallen equally in love with this darling video and have decided to add #85 to the list.

which i will complete with a youtube video.

i'm pretty damn excited.

now...i've just gotta get my hands on a ukulele...
